Product Description

18AWG PCI-E 6pin to Triple 8-pin 3-way Splitter Extension Cable 3X (6+2pin) Cable

The 3-way Splitter adapter cable connects to standard male 6pin PCIe ports so it is an ideal GPU mining extension cord. Furthermore, the splitter cable is a cost-saving solution as it can eliminate the need for upgrading other components in the power supply kit. Because the additional 2 pins are ground, this cable can also be used as a 6 pin to triple 6 pin cable. For that reason, this cable is ideal for GPU mining as well as ASIC mining. It can also be used to power GPU riser boards, GPUs, ASIC miners, and other PCIe powered components.

This high-quality y-splitter is designed specifically to power a GPU and its corresponding PCIe-powered riser from a single output port on a breakout board adapter. Can also be used to power GPUs using 3 PCIE ports for power  such as the new RTX 30-series GPUs

What is the maximum power draw capacity when hooked up to your 16awg cables? I would love to use these on my RTX 3070 rigs that need 3 total plugs per card, but don’t want to create a potential fire hazard.

Is it safe to assume, that your 16AWG 12amp cables can safely do 345W with these 3 way splitters? ((12amp*12volt)*3)*0.8

Support

Our 16AWG cables are tested and rated for up to 300W.

Hi, the power limit of any electric cable is base on its size. Here we have 16AWG stranded copper and they are three pairs per PCI-E cable. The extra 2pin are ground. Found the amp rating of 16AWG wires “Chassis rating” multiply the amp rating x 12volt = Watt then multiply by 3 pair. (Amp_Rating X 12) X 3 = Maximum watt per PCIe cable. To be on the safe side of things I would use only 80% of the result so X 0.80.

Can this safely be used to power a RTX 3090 that draws about 450 watts of power and has 3×8 pin slots? Don’t want to risk a fire hazard, so any input would be greatly appreciated

Hi Joseph,
Asumming the cable before is a 6 to 6 ping 16AWG wich is connected to the breakout, could this 3x splitter feed a riser and a 220watts 3070 gpu?
75watts goes to the riser, looks safe for a 18AWG
do you know if the other two ways can handle 220w combined? (worst case scenario)

I guess my question is how many watts each way can handle but I felt you’ll need some context 🙂
Thanks!

The answer is for 16AWG but can be applied to any gauge wire. the power limit of any electric cable is base on its size. Here we have 16AWG stranded copper and they are three pairs per PCI-E cable. If you are splitting a 16AWG wire that we offer you should be fine. If you are splitting 18AWG or 20AWG your experimenting!

Hello, can I use this cable to power several graphics cards of the type “sapphire nitro+ rx580 8go” it includes 1*8pins + 1*6pins and with a risers 6pins, is it that I risk the fire or not?

Support

This is a splitter … If you are splitting a cable of true 16AWG like this one https://www.parallelminer.com/product/24-inch-16awg-6-pin-male-to-8-pin-62-male-pcie-power-cable/ you will be fine. Besides before any fire, you will have heat. So check the wires to the touch, warm is normal HOT is not.

hi. what is the best way to wire up a gpu with 3 x 8-pin power connectors – estimated power draw at 420 watts and a gpu riser please? i am thinking two of these cables, one cable to power the gpu and then another cable to power the riser?

Customer

thank you. i think to be safe, i should simply do 4 cables. one to each port. 3 ports of 420 watts on the gpu is 140 watts per cable.

The recommended way to connect these 3 way splitter is by using 16AWG before it. But I am just curious by looking at the cable, the female 6 pin to the first 8 pin is still 18AWG, and doesn’t all power have to go through that 18AWG regardless of a 16AWG or 18AWG is used before it?

Parallel Miner was/is one of the few (if only) places I could find these cables. They work perfectly. I chose these cables because of the Parallel’s reputation with other miners. Additionally, the extensive documentation and specs listed on the site made the selection easy. These type of cables can be the strength or weakness of a rig – so selecting the right ones is important. I didn’t want faulty cables and what Parallel offered was the best and safest option at an excellent price.

1- ON/Off only 2- First power both off, then insert the sync cable. now you can power on ether and the other will follow. 3- Let assume this scenario. You have one ATX PSU power your motherboard and two server PSU powering your GPU. From the ATX PSU insert the large HDD 4pin Molex into the first server PSU. Use the sync cable to connect both X11 PSU. Now when you power cycle your motherboard so will the server PSUs. Both. See this Video https://www.parallelminer.com/videos/x11-basic-features/

Hi Joseph, could this cable be used to power 1x riser via 6-pin PCIe + 1x RTX3090 2x 8-pin PCIe……. safely? Added to this, it would be running off 1x PCIe port from the ZSX-AMP breakout board, powered by the 2400w Delta PSU.

    • Joseph g (store manager)

That is exactly why we design the cable! Credit to Albert on our Team for the Design. What is crucial however is that you do not split anything less than 16AWG. Otherwise, with a 3090 at 100MH/s + you will overheat these cables. 16AWG Or Better

Connected from 3090 to a 16 AWG extension, then to an x6b breakout board. The breakout board connection melted and caught fire after about 6 months of use. Contacted support and was told this splitter is not meant for modern GPUs. I was told it is meant for older GPUs with 4-pin power. Why is parallel miner knowingly selling and recommending hardware that is a potential fire hazard?

    • Joseph g (store manager)

Hi, if the cables were the problem, I would think they would melt within 6mins or 6hrs! Six months of use.. Something else happened here or a combination of things. When cables are used above their rated capacity they will get hot real fast; in seconds.

How many watts can this adapter handle ? I don’t know why it is not listed in the description

These are nice and sturdy. I’ve bought around 10. One of them do have a couple pins that popped loose and will not lock in place but the rest are solid.

Very good splitters. Only complaint is with the detachable 2-pins. They just get in the way when they aren’t in use. Remember to not push the wattage over 200 watts.

These are great, but when powering a 2x 8pin GPU and riser, the cables lengths definitely need to be changed. the distance from 1st connector to the second needs to be longer. Going from riser to GPU is really tight. The distance between 2nd and 3rd is wayy too long, causing it to have all this extra wire hanging out that just doesn’t look good. Cut 3 inches out from between the 2nd and 3rd and add it in between the 1st and 2nd. I would be a LOT more of these if that were the case.
