I am wanting to use 2 of these with a Delta DPS-2400AB. How would the sync power work when attached to an ATX PSU? Would I attach a molex to both X11’s or just one of them?

Thanks!

Guest

6 years 16 days ago

To properly sync the DPS-2400AB power power supply to your ATX power supply using our X11 breakout board, you will need to connect a 4 pin molex from your ATX power supply to the molex port on the X11 breakout board that is connected to the right slot of the 2400w power supply. The right slot controls the on/off feature of both breakout boards connected to the power supply.

Great question – The 2400 as two power bar . Only on is master. It is on the master only that you will need to sync the ATX PSU. The second bar is slave and will follow what ever the master does

Hello – just bought this breakout board to use on HP HSTNS-PL11 1200W server PSU. When it’s turned on, the breakout board shows 12.5V on the display, although the PSU is rated as 12V output. The reason I’m concerned about this is because I’m using Asus B250 mining expert motherboard – the one that has 3 separate 24-pin ATX power slots (with each powering a SEPARATE set of PCIe slots). Reading through some discussions, I’m now discovering that if the breakout board outputs 12.5v, the MoBo would not power on. Is this correct? Is there a specific set of instructions for that motherboard (I know quite a few people are using it)? What I’m trying to do is one of the two things:

(1) Since I already have a separate ATX PSU, which now powers the MoBo and a few GPUs through slot A, I am hoping to connect the Server PSU with the breakout board to the remaining GPUs – however, the PCIe slots associated with Bank B and Bank C somehow need to be powered too. Normally, this B250 Motherboard expects several “regular” ATX power supplies, but obviously this is not going to be the case – at best, there will only be one ATX power supply.

(2) Failing the option of being able to dual-power the MoBo through the combination of regular ATX PSU and the server power supply, I’m also looking into an option of using ONLY server PSU and a breakout board. However, I can’t figure out then how to power the main 24-pin ATX slot (other than using this adapter cable: https://www.parallelminer.com/product/180watt-max-24pin-atx-power-module-included-sata-molex-cpu-power-connectors-ditch-your-atx-power-supply-entirely/). The adapter cable, however, would only power Bank A of PCIe slots (along with the motherboard) – how do I power Banks B and C? Or would it be enough to use this 12V cable (https://www.parallelminer.com/product/pcie-6pin-to-molex-4pin-female-24inch-16awg-12volt-only/) running from a 6pin connection on the breakout board to the Aux power Molex connection on B250 motherboard?

Using this to power the motherboard and GPU at the same time is somewhat confusing – ESPECIALLY within the context of Asus B250 mining expert motherboard. Any insight you can provide?

Thanks!

Hello, please note that the built-in readers have not been calibrated 100% accurately. The 1200W PSU only pushes 12V. The discussion you are referring to was about the Delta 2400W, which pushes 12.5V, and the BioStar TB250-BTC motherboard (which does not like the extra 0.5V). The ASUS B250 motherboard works fine with the Delta 2400W and its actual 12.5V output.

Only slot A of the 24pins is required. The B and C 24pin slots do not provide additional power to those sections, they allow your motherboard to turn connected ATX PSUs on and off. Since you would be using a server PSU, those ports are unnecessary. You can connect a Molex from your ATX PSU to the X11 breakout board to sync their power or switch to a full server PSU setup.

Thank you! Yes, I can now verify that the breakout board works perfectly with Asus b250 mining expert and I don’t need extra power going to banks B or C, as long as bank A is powered through a 24-pin ATX power cable – I can just power both the risers and the GPU directly from the server power and the breakout board using 6 to 6+2 cables. Awesome! Thanks!

Got several of these on sale recently, had some in 2018 as well. These are FANTASTIC for so many different power supplies. I even tried them with some that I got a great deal on from eBay and they worked on those PSUs. PM said some PSUs dont work with this breakout board but I got luck on ones they haven’t tested. Can’t go wrong with these.

You guys make great stuff! I think it would be super helpful if you listed the number of pins on your card edges instead of just compatibility! I ordered two formats (or three?) and they all were either too many or too few pins which I can fix by attaching my own card edges from amphenol…you already have really explicit compatibility disclaimers, but it would be super helpful to builders doing unconventional things like using rectifiers which I am doing! Also, I believe if the PIN number is correct and the customer has PSU pinout specs which are easily accessible, you should be able to interface woth an scsi adapter or something similar. I could still do that, but finding say a 64 pin to 50 pin with the right male and female parts is trickier and makes formatting harder. No PCB involved either way to clarify, this is an off board solution. I ultimately needed a power distribution board because I decided on redundancy and old ones are cheap, but am currently trying to figure out how to use the (x4) 16 node cables of my server PSU distribution board. I think I’m going to get a compatible Intel bridge board to enable hot swap drives and redundancy, and maybe a node docking board. I would love to pick your brains about some of the ins and outs to find easy solutions because I appreciate the DIY modding spirit. Feel free to reach out! Anyhow, thank you for what you do. The tech industry needs these simple and effective solutions mass produced and readily available. I can’t tell you have many of your products enable simple solutions to problems other people insisted would absolutely require prototype interposer boards, etc. Keep fighting the good fight!

    Sincerely,
    Ian

Board worked great with 1 of my PSU’s the others are all the same model but a different part number. I found a solution from my dell rep, the models that didn’t work have a voltage return sensor and they need to be connected to the 12v +/- to stay on. I was able to solder a jumper on but this model claims compatibility out of box 🙁

Hi Kamran. thank you for your review. In regards to taxes, we do not charge duty & taxes. Authority in each country does!. Each country has its own rules & regulations . It is the responsibility of the importer; YOU, to know this in advance. I’m a Canadian myself and of course, I’m aware of the GST and possibly others added taxes on made-in-China products.

This product was working as intended within the first 30 day warranty for the most part but after I ordered 2, they both went bad within a 4 month time frame on different mining rigs. Unfortunately, on my second gpu rig, this breakout board went bad and took down the motherboard with it too ($450 worth of damage). Since both breakout boards went bad fairly fast (On completely different GPU rigs), I’m hesitant to buy this again for my 1400 watt 200 amp power supplies I got from here. Still researching for other potentially better options for breakout boards.

You guys are the best. I’ve made multiple orders with you guys and couldnt be happier. I’ve needed some stuff replaced and the replacements came so much faster than the actual orders. Supremely impressive. As long as im mining you guys will have a customer for life.

I’m tired of the x11 boards failing. I have a dozen defective ones sitting on my desk. It’s a very well known issue amongst miners that these boards regularly fail. Power supplies have all been fine, it’s the boards that fail.

Great Items – Breakout board is smaller and does what it needs to do / allows the daisy chain I needed to connect both PSU

Service is great but product quality is lacking. I keep losing breakout boards. All same problem with the power button no longer working and of course they all seem to die within a few months after the warranty expires. I always have to order spares but it seems like they are only good for a couple months then I need to order more.
