Can this be used on the molex cable off the ZSX board and be used to power 2 of the molex connectors on the B250 mining motherboard? I was the one who used the PCIe to Molex 12 volt only and melted the wire.

We do not advise using the ZSX Molex to power anything but (1) an SSD drive. Not even an HDD Drive. Thus we have customers that successfully power the (2) Molex port on an ASROCK H110 with the ZSX direct Molex using the splitter you mentioned. That is because the H110 needs to sense 5volt to pass the bios boot. The B250 we have in our office has three Molex 4pin to be filled not two. We have always suggested the following components the power the 3 Molex. (3) of these https://www.parallelminer.com/product/pcie-6pin-to-molex-4pin-female-24inch-16awg-12volt-only/ Or 2 of these https://www.parallelminer.com/product/pcie-6pin-to-molex-4pin-female-24inch-16awg-12volt-only/ with 2 of https://www.parallelminer.com/product/4pins-molex-y-splitter-cable-adapter-6-inch-long-highest-quality-cables/ … We will have stock on them this week

Thank you, yes I have 3 Molex on MB as well, but I’m only using 13 cards so only using 2 of the 3 sections. The https://www.parallelminer.com/product/pcie-6pin-to-molex-4pin-female-24inch-16awg-12volt-only/ is what I used initially, but when one of the wires melted I thought maybe that wasn’t correct. Maybe it was just a loose connection that caused that wire to melt, I will attempt to do another one and see if it works. I may need to buy another one or 2 of those if it works since I melted the one.

Keep us posted. This cable use 14AWG cable, if they melted it’s not because of an excess in current it most likely a bad connection

Hey Joseph. How do you actually get 5V from this splitter? You just split 12V equally getting 6V signal for each MOLEX input? Cause there are only two input wires which carry 12V to the splitter from a 6pin PCI-E connector. Thanks!

Hi Pavel
From the PCI-e port, you will only have 12volt and ground available. 95% of all parts in mining only use the 12volt. Some motherboards use the 5volt just as sensing but actually only use the 12volt. When you use a splitter the voltage remains the same. It’s the current that is being split. Here the cable size quality is such that you can split it two times and still be ok.

Hi Joseph I have asrock mobo pretty much same mobo as h110pro I have bought this cable and the splitter from you to power the 2x pcie power ports on my mobo, but a lot of miners are telling don’t use this wire . Cause it only has 2 wires coming out of pcie part . Can you explain more as I think I need to plug this in, but just worried it’s going to blow something.

Whats the total watts of this cable

Support
2 years 17 days ago

the power limit of any electric cable is based on its size. Here we have 18AWG stranded copper and they are three pairs per PCI-E cable. The extra 2pin are ground. Found the amp rating of 18AWG wires “Chassis rating | Short cable” multiply the amp rating x 12volt = Watt then multiply by 3 pair. (Amp_Rating X 12) X 3 = Maximum watt per PCIe cable. To be on the safe side of things I would use only 80% of the result so X 0.80.

Very good quality of molex splitter. Be careful where and how you use this splitter too. It should be used only with a PCIe 6pin Male to Molex 4pin Female (12volt only) for powering the one or two molex ports that some mining motherboards have for additional power feed. NEVER plug another splitter to this splitter.
